Kathleen Joyce Burgos, Class of 2023 / Year 1 Video Productions

Kathleen has a dying wish to succeed in the film industry and win an Oscar as a Filipina woman. This course will be her first step toward achieving her life’s vocation. She wants to experiment with different genres of filmmaking so that she may find a genre she might one day direct/screen write. During the pandemic, she developed an obsession for various music genres and also found interest in hair dye and, along the way, learned about hair health. 

Kassandra Chang, Class of 2022 / Year 1 Video Productions

Kassandra hopes to improve her editing and filming skills, as well as learn how to write scripts. Kassandra enjoys listening to music, playing the clarinet, and shooting in the riflery team. During the pandemic, she learned how to manage her time more efficiently. She also likes collecting Cheshire Cat merchandise

 

Samantha Europa, Class of 2023 / Year 2 Video Productions

Samantha enjoyed her time in this class last year and re-enrolled to gain more experience in front of and behind the camera. When she is not brushing up on her editing skills, you can find her on the golf course, dancing hula, or at her sewing machine. Through the pandemic, Samantha learned we can accomplish anything as long as we work together. Everything is a kākou thing.

 

Hayleigh Penueta, Class of 2022 / Year 1 Video Productions

I decided to take Video Productions because I want to try something new and create new opportunities for myself. I hope to learn to adapt to unfamiliar situations. During this pandemic, I have picked up a few hobbies including, hiking, cooking and baking. At the end of quarantine, I hope we are able to socialize with one another with fewer restrictions upon us. In 10 years, I hope that I am enjoying a successful career and living and enjoying life.

Vanessa Welch, Class of 2023 / Year 2 Video Productions

I decided to take Video Productions because I want to try something new and create new opportunities for myself. I hope to learn to adapt to unfamiliar situations. During this pandemic, I have picked up a few hobbies including, hiking, cooking and baking. At the end of quarantine, I hope we are able to socialize with one another with fewer restrictions upon us. In 10 years, I hope that I am enjoying a successful career and living and enjoying life.

Britney Pham, Class of 2022 / Year 2 Video Productions

Britney had an amazing experience in this class and hopes to create more exciting memories this year. She also hopes to try different roles/jobs within the newscast production. Britney loves listening to music (recently being into K-Pop, R&B, and rap/hip-hop), watching true crime mukbangers, as well as walking, shopping, and sleeping. As much as Britney loves to spend time with her family and friends, she also cherishes spending time by herself. 

Jillian Simpson, Class of 2022 / Year 1 Video Productions

Jillian took this class because the Lancers Lately has always been something she wanted to be involved in. She’s excited to learn about editing, filming, and reporting. Jillian loves sailing, poetry, painting and having fun with her friends. If the pandemic taught her one thing, it’s to cherish being around people and the joy that they bring.

Gigi Hioki, Class of 2023 / Year 1 Video Productions

Gigi is always trying to express herself through new forms of media. She is interested in learning team dynamics and listening to new ideas. Gigi's hobbies include reading, chess, watching movies, swimming, and surfing. She learned the importance of good friendships and faith during this pandemic.

Joie Kane, Class of 2022 / Year 2 Video Productions

Joie enjoyed being part of the Lancers Lately crew last year. She wishes to learn more about teamwork and speaking on the spot, as she would in an interview. Joie plays soccer and loves to perform, dance, sing, go to the beach, surf, and hike. From this pandemic, she learned a lot about self-care and ceasing the moment. 

 

 

Ashlyn Kim, Class of 2022 / Year 1 Video Productions

Ashlyn wanted to take this class because she watched some of her role models anchor for the Lancers Lately. It was always a dream of hers to anchor alongside her classmates. She also loves to play volleyball and fish. From the pandemic, Ashlyn learned to take advantage of every and any opportunity that presents itself.

Mahina Ah Sam, Class of 2022 / Year 3 Video Productions

Mahina watched the Lancers Lately in grade school and knew she wanted to be part of it. With this being her third year, she is ready to take it to the next level! Mahina loves to workout, go to the beach, surf, hike, and be outside! One thing that Mahina wants people to know about her is that she is open to anything and is always down to go on an adventure, she never just wants to stay put. If it is a beautiful day out, I might as well make the most of it! As she would say #CheckEmGoCheckEmGo

Dakota "Ipo" Baptista-Williamson, Class of 2022 / Year 1 Video Productions

Ipo heard many great stories about this class and is excited to try something new. She wishes to strengthen her editing skills, while learning new techniques. Ipo plays volleyball, loves listening to music, and cooking. From this pandemic, she learned to never take anything for granted.

 

Holden Aniya, Class of 2022 / Year 3 Video Productions

Holden wanted to take this class to learn how to film and edit more professionally, but overtime, she enjoyed being in such a positive, welcoming environment. Video Productions became one of Holden’s sources to get through this pandemic. Holden loves to spend time with herself, her family, and her friends!

 

Ashlyn Dowda-Gates, Class of 2024 / Year 1 Video Productions

Ashlyn is curious and excited to learn more about this class. She spends her free time on the field, where she’s been playing soccer since she was 3. This pandemic taught Ashlyn that everything happens for a reason, and all bad things lead to the most beautiful things in life.

 

Lacey Evangelista, Class of 2022 / Year 1 Video Productions

Lacey heard great things about this class. Her hobbies consist of paddling, cruising with friends, and sleeping. Her hobbies consist of paddling, cruising with friends, and sleeping. Throughout the pandemic, Lacey has learned to be more organized and focused on her goals in life. 

 

Kaena Medrano, Class of 2024 / Year 1 Video Productions

Kaena wants to learn more about video editing, speaking with confidence, and hosting on-camera interviews. She’s taking Video Productions because she is interested in learning new things. Kaena enjoys collaborating with her peers in hopes of innovating the Lancers Lately show this year. Kaena also likes hanging out with friends and family, going to the beach, and cheerleading.

 

 

Shayla Mokuahi, Class of 2022 / Year 1 Video Productions

Shayla has always loved watching the Lancers Lately and is excited to participate this year. She hopes to learn more about editing and effective communication. What she most learned from the pandemic is that you never know where life will take you and that is okay because it teaches you how to think on your feet more and to be the most independent person you can be.  Shayla’s hobbies include hula and going to the beach.

 

 

Bailey Saito-Ho, Class of 2022 / Year 2 Video Productions

Bailey loved her experience in this class last year. She learned to edit, anchor, and film. Her hobbies include crafting, going outdoors, and spending time with friends. Bailey learned numerous things from the pandemic, including independence and self-motivation.

 

Isabella "Izzy" Savea, Class of 2022 / Year 1 Video Productions

Izzy took Video Productions because she enjoyed the Academy’s Journalism class last year. She also plans on studying journalism in hopes of pursuing a future in it. Izzy’s hobbies include bowling, basketball, and spending time with loved ones. During the pandemic, Izzy picked up new baking skills and got a puppy named Matagi. She wants people to know how positive and dedicated she will be towards anything set in front of her. 

Amber Wolfe, Class of 2024 / Year 1 Video Productions

Amber recently worked with Hawaii Women In Filmmaking. Her hobbies consist of playing indoor and beach volleyball, taking pictures on 35-mm cameras, going to the gym, and being in nature. During the pandemic, Amber learned to take care of herself physically and mentally. One thing Amber would like people to know about her is that she has dedication and an amazing work ethic.
