The Lancers Lately Crew (2019-20)

team a

Maia Bristow-Canfield, 12th Grade

I decided to take Video Productions because it sounded fun, and I had friends who are also taking it. I’m looking forward to meeting new people and gaining new skills in this course. I participate in cheer at Island Elite, as well as dance and take theater and voice lessons. In my free time, I hang with friends and family and train for cheer and dance competitions. In 10 years, I see myself with a college education, pursuing a career in performing arts and traveling around the world.

Jayce Jeremiah, 12th Grade

I enrolled in Video Productions because I have a strong interest in media. I really want to learn more about the filming industry and to be more confident in front of the camera. I also look forward to making Lancers Lately something our viewers can look forward to watching. I am looking forward to anchoring and learning more about the media industry. In my free time, I like to play volleyball and watch Netflix! I also love spending time with my friends and family. In 10 years, I see myself hopefully having a successful career and starting a family with my significant other.

Sophia Camara, 12th Grade

I’m taking Video Production because I plan on pursuing film and cinematography in college. I’ve been interested in joining the Lancers Lately crew for a while now and am so excited to finally be a part of it. Most of my free time is spent watching shows and movies or going on social media. I am involved in our school’s band program and many other music programs, like the Academy’s marching band, Saint Louis’ pep band and the Honolulu Wind Ensemble. In 10 years, I see myself as a (hopefully) successful director or filmmaker that makes things with meaning!

Isabella Johnson, 12th Grade

Signing up for Video Productions is the best decision I have made in years. I wanted to be part of a community where we can collaborate and get creative. I also wanted to join The Lancers Lately crew, which I always thought was a cool production. My free time is consumed by social media, reading anything that interests me and geeking over “Star Wars.” In 10 years, I hope to have as many stamps on my passport as possible and at least one college degree I won’t regret getting!

Qaydenz Montgomery, 12th Grade

I chose to take Video Productions because I have been interested in film and media for a while now. My favorite part is editing because it is fun to see how everything comes together. Being apart of the crew means  everyone plays an important role in order to put on the production. In my spare time, I enjoy hanging out with my friends and family and watching TV/movies. I have also been a gymnast for the past six years. In 10 years, I see myself starting a career and settling down with my other half, maybe even starting a family.

Shawna Thompson, 12th Grade

I decided to take Video Productions because I am extremely interested in filming and editing. In this class, I look forward to making cool videos for people to watch. In my free time, I like to go to the beach and hang out with my friends. I play volleyball both in and out of school. In 10 years, I see myself traveling the world and experiencing new countries and cultures.

Kadee Wauke, 11th Grade

I decided to take Video Productions because I want to pursue a career in videography. I’ve been interested in film since participating in my elementary’s broadcast class. Being part of the Lancers Lately crew means I’m able to work with others who have the same passion in videography as me. In my free time, I like to edit photos and videos, as well as dance. I also made my first short film at a local film camp, which is when I really realized how much I love film and how accomplishing it can be. In 10 years, I hope to pursue my dream of having a successful career in filmmaking.

Team B

Mahina Ah Sam, 10th Grade

I took this class because I am outgoing and wanted to pitch my ideas for Lancers Lately. I'm looking forward to linking up with new people that can help me to grow in technology use and in team building. Being apart of this crew gives off great vibes, and I am just glad that I was able to join the class. I watched Lancers Lately when I was in the 6th grade. My sister’s friends were anchors on it, which made me want to join too. In my free time, I love to surf, go to the beach, hike and hang out with my friends. In 10 years, I would like to be a successful scientist and have a steady job. I also want to have a significant other.

Holden Aniya, 10th Grade

I wanted to take Video Productions because I am able to connect with people who have the same love for filming and producing as me. I look forward to learning new skills in editing and filming. In my free time, I like to eat, play around, hang out with friends, dance to hype music randomly and play volleyball. In 10 years, I see myself hopefully being happy, successful and independent financially.

Hunter Faleafine, 11th Grade

I took this class to advance my skills in videography, photography and editing. I also thought it would be a fun class. To be apart of the Lancers Lately means a lot of responsibility but also a lot of fun. In my free time, I like to sleep, eat and play club volleyball. I have no clue what I will be doing in 10 years.

Leiolani Faurot, 12th Grade

This is my second year in Video Productions, which is a class that has become one of my passions. Hula is a big part of my life, as I love perpetuating my culture. For the past four years, I have competed in the Merrie Monarch Festival. I am always impressed with how much work goes into producing the television broadcast, which is what sparked my interest in taking this class. In my free time, I like to hang with my friends and family at the beach. I also spend many hours at hula and football, as I dance for Hula Hālau ʻO Kamuela and am a football manager for St. Louis’ varsity football team.

Emma George, 11th Grade

I took Video Productions to help expand my knowledge in photography, videography, editing and social skills. I have always wanted to be apart of the Lancers Lately and I look forward to interviewing teachers and students. In my free time, I like playing softball for the school and hanging out with my friends on the weekends. In 10 years, I see myself graduating from college with a steady job, having my own apartment with a dog and a boyfriend.

Rachel Faith Javier, 12th Grade

I decided to be in Video Productions because I am interested in performing arts and hosting and fell in love with this class after taking it for the second year. I like to work with cameras and make videos for fun. Currently, I am helping to produce an Oceanic Cable 16 show called “ForKidsByKids.” In this class, I look forward to creating brand new content and changing things up before I graduate. In my free time, I like to sing, dance, act and contribute to my church’s youth ministry. I am also involved in voice lessons, Brown Bags to Stardom, Praise Teens and the “ForKidsByKids” show. In 10 years, I hope to either be working with a big production company or starting my career as a performing arts teacher.

Natalie Hope Pagdilao, 12th Grade

With this being my last year at the Academy, I took this class again to really apply what I have learned over the past two years. I hope to edit more and to create more projects that can also be shown on the Lancers Lately broadcast. In my free time, I like to hang out with family and friends, go to church, sing, dance, bake and especially get boba with the people I love. In 10 years, I see myself working at a hotel here on the island and also studying to become a teacher. (:
