The Academy offers fun and exciting activities and engaging and informative courses during its SUMMER PROGRAMS for boys and girls in the EARLY LEARNING CENTER (ELC) for Preschool (age three) and Senior Kindergarten and grades 1 to 12.
Students can build upon the academics learned during the school year, develop and enhance skills and explore new academic frontiers through an interactive curriculum that fosters and stimulates a love for learning.
Through a wide array of electives, students can stay in shape and be active, express themselves through the visual and performing arts or learn the latest technology tips and tricks.
Students in grades Preschool to three attend self-contained classes which follow a special, fun theme; those in grades four to six enroll in one session of math and reading and writing and two electives of their choice during the morning session.
In the afternoon, the Academy offers a wide array of special activities to further augment the summer experience, including various Sports Camps, Photography, Hula and much more!

LOWER SCHOOL SUMMER OFFERINGS - Early Learning Center (Preschool) to Grade 7
The Academy's LOWER SCHOOL SUMMER PROGRAM offers a variety of courses for reinforcement and enrichment for boys and girls entering Preschool (ages three and four) to Grade 7.

Classes for the EARLY LEARNING CENTER (ELC) - Preschool and Senior Kindergarten - to Grade 3 are self-contained. Fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh graders take one course each in Mathematics and Reading and Writing and select two electives.

UPPER SCHOOL SUMMER OFFERINGS (Grades 8 to 12)
Four- and Five-Week Courses
The SUMMER PROGRAM for students in Grades 8 to 12 includes a variety of on-campus courses for students to earn credits. The choices include in-class instruction as well as on- and off-campus online options.
For the five-week SUMMER courses, students in Grades 9 to 12 will earn 0.5 credit in the respective subjects.
To review, build on current skills and ease the transition into the ninth grade in the fall, students entering Grade 9 can enroll in two special four-week "camps" - one in ENGLISH and one in MATHMEMATICS.

Ceramics I is an introductory course that focuses on clay as a universal medium of expression. Through the artistic process during this session, students will develop their artistic abilities as well as their problem-solving, critical-thinking and time management skills.
Functional and non-functional pieces from diverse cultures will be introduced and analyzed. Students will also explore hand-building techniques including, pinch, coil, slab and free-form molding. Wheel-throwing will also be covered, along with glaze, glazing techniques and other methods of surface decoration.

Rifle Safety Training & Marksmanship 7 and 8 (Credit: N/A)
The goal of this course is to educate youth in the responsible use of air rifles through safety training and marksmanship. This course will be presented in two parts with Part One running the first two weeks of the ACADEMY'S SUMMER PROGRAMS Session; the second part will fill the following three weeks.
In Part One*, students will learn the different parts of the rifle, different types of air rifles, the safe handling and use of the air rifle, how to clean and maintain the air rifle and how to safely operate and shoot the air rifle. Basic marksmanship will be covered in the shooting of the air rifle from a supported position.
In the second part of this course, students will learn the basics of shooting the air rifle in the three positions of prone, standing and kneeling. The goal of this part of the course is to provide the knowledge and skills necessary for participation in youth shooting competitions for Air Riflery sponsored by various Hawai'i High School Athletic Association (HHSAA) Leagues, including the Interscholastic League of Honolulu (ILH), Oahu Interscholastic Association (OIA), the Maui Interscholastic League, and the Big Island Interscholastic Federation, as well as the National Rifle Association, the Civilian Marksmanship Program and the United States Army.

This course is designed to introduce students in grades 7 and 8 to the many Visual Arts classes available at the Academy for those in Grades 9 to 12.
In this course, students will explore the world of art through an exploration of mediums like Digital Photography, Graphic Design, Drawing and Painting and Ceramics. The experience includes 2-D, 3-D and Digital-Art making.
Throughout the SUMMER session, participants will also develop problem-solving skills, critical-thinking skills, time management skills and group interactive and leadership roles.

Students entering Grade 8 have an opportunity to enhance their summer with one of two four-week courses. These courses will touch upon the foundation of the subject to prepare and enhance the student on the topic. Each camp is 1.5 hours each day for the four weeks. No credit will be earned.
