Formerly a part of the St. Louis-Sacred Hearts Drama Society, the
Academy’s Thespian Troupe was formed in 1994 with its production
of Song of Bernadette.
Unlike other clubs and activities on campus, the Academy’s
Thespian Troupe is open to all members of the school community.
Although the Troupe depends largely on the participation of the
Academy’s High School students, productions have featured
the talents of cast members from Damien, St. Louis and Maryknoll
Schools, as well as graduates, faculty members, parents and students
in the lower levels when appropriate.
Each year, the Troupe stages two full-length productions with selections
ranging from comedies to drama and from musicals to special adaptations,
such as the all-female Odd Couple.
Since 1983, the Troupe has hoisted the curtain on a total of 37
productions, under the leadership of Lloyd Wood, who is responsible
for overall production and directing, and Margaret-Helen Wood, the
artistic director for set design, wardrobe, properties and makeup.
The team is supported by a crew of reliable, student stage-hands
and technicians that keep the show running smoothly.
