Model United Nations

The Academy’s Model United Nations (SHA-MUN) Club prepares future world citizens in their understanding of and responsibility towards the world community and its efforts for a just and peaceful society.

The goals of SHA-MUN are to:

  • Increase student awareness of the world around them,
  • Encourage students to reflect on the political, environmental, economic and social issues affecting the world and develop improved or new solutions to counter these issues,
  • Prepare students for the state high school and college Model United Nations (MUN) Conference,
  • Reach out to the global community through the annual UNICEF service-leadership project,
  • Motivate students to continue involvement in college chapters of the Model United Nations.

In addition to their involvement in the UNICEF service project, club members participate in current events debates, United Nations Day and International Awareness Week festivities, International Trivia Contests, lunch and dinner potlucks, Issue Briefings by international and local experts, the state MUN Conference and MUN sessions for the Security Council and General Assembly.
