The counseling team at Sacred Hearts Academy understands that guidance
and counseling is an important part of educating the ‘whole’
student. The counselors help students develop and strengthen academic,
emotional, interpersonal, communication and career skills.
The Academy follows the National Standards for School Counseling
Programs.
The counselors at the Academy realize that it is increasingly difficult
to rear young women in today’s complex and ever-changing world,
and they collaborate with the administration, other educators, students
and parents to combat the pressures of society and tailor the Academy’s
educational experience to contribute to each student’s success
- academically, emotionally and socially.
The Academy’s comprehensive Counseling Program works towards
fostering positive academic, personal, social and career growth
by:
- Helping students acquire the skills, knowledge, attitudes and
habits that enhance the education and life processes;
- Assisting students with academic planning to best ensure their
growth;
- Aiding each student during key periods and helping them gain
the skills needed to make successful transitions from each division
to the next and from High School to the world beyond;
- Helping students develop an understanding and acceptance of
themselves, including their interests, values and abilities, and
others so they can develop into contributing members of the community;
- Serving as an advocate to aiding students when saddled with
academic, personal, social and career issues in private, group
and Peer Counseling sessions;
- Providing resources for students, parents and staff for academic
and career opportunities and curriculum improvement.
