Sacred Hearts Academy has been a member
of the Interscholastic League of Honolulu (ILH) since 1971. The
objective of the ILH is to foster interscholastic athletic activities,
which contribute toward the development of desirable qualities of
citizenship in secondary school youth.
The ILH places emphasis on the following values and goals in educational
athletics:
- Foster the growth and well being of the individual student
- Develop mental and bodily health through wholesome exercise
- Provide opportunities for the development of self-reliance and
emotional maturity through athletic participation
- Broaden social experiences through cooperation and competition
- Develop high standards of sportsmanship on the part of the individual,
the school, and the community
- Promote harmonious working relationships among the members of
the League
- Emphasize the proper place of athletics in relationship to
physical education and to the total school program
- Offer gender equity in athletics for boys and girls
